The Air Waybill - why it's important to get it right
Before we can move your shipment internationally, an Air Waybill (AWB) must be prepared.
The AWB is a document completed on behalf of the shipper usually by a Freight Forwarder, an Air New Zealand Cargo office, or an agent appointed by us.
This important document evidences the contract between the shipper and carrier(s) for carriage of goods over routes of the carrier(s).
The AWB combines several purposes:
- Documentary evidence of the conclusion of the Contract of Carriage
- Proof of receipt of the goods for shipment
- Freight bill
- Guide for handling, dispatching and delivering the consignment
It's important that the Air Waybill be completed correctly. By following the steps listed in our guide you'll be on track to get it right every time.
